Farmily Roots Fungus & Ferments

Questions, Answered.

We're Here, We're Human, and We're Listening
Who are you?

Farmily Roots — a small mushroom farm in West Kelowna, BC. We grow gourmet mushrooms year-round and forage wild ones in season. Everything we sell, we grew or picked ourselves.

What do you grow?

Our core five are Blue Oyster, Lion's Mane, King Trumpet, Shiitake and Chestnut, with more species in development. Wild offerings — morels, chanterelles, lobster and more — follow the forest's schedule, not ours.

How fresh is "fresh"?

Mushrooms are packed from the current harvest, and the site's availability numbers come straight from the grow room — what you see is what is actually growing.

Order before end of day and it's packed and ready for the next shipping day. Sundays are fundays though — orders placed Saturday go out Monday.

Where do you deliver?

Local delivery, Vernon to Penticton and everything in between.

When do prices change?

Prices are weekly, set on Monday. The price you see when you order is the price you pay.

I'm a chef — how does ordering work for restaurants?

The Kitchen Door page shows live availability by the pound. When you reserve, those pounds are held for you for 24 hours while we confirm by email. Price is the week's price; the 24-hour clock is only on the held pounds.

How does the Bento Box subscription work?

Weekly or every-other-week, in 1 lb and 2 lb boxes — no contracts. Each box leans toward whatever is heaviest and best that week: never the same twice, never a fixed ratio.

Pause or cancel anytime from the Help page; cancelling stops all future billing immediately.

Can I get wild mushrooms year-round?

Dried, yes — from the season's pick. Fresh wild, no: wild is 100% a hunt, and off-season fresh doesn't exist. When a species is in season you'll see it open up on the site; before that, join the notify list and we'll email you the moment it's real.

What if something in my delivery isn't right?

Tell us within 48 hours with a photo and we make it right — a replacement in your next delivery, or a refund. The full policy and the claim form live on the Help page.

Do you take returns?

Fresh food can't be returned, so we guarantee it instead — see the Help page. Dried and digital goods are final sale, with the same 48-hour quality guarantee on dried.

Allergens?

We flag what our products contain and how they were handled. We never claim anything is "free from" — we're a working farm, not a certified allergen-free facility. If you have a serious allergy, write to us before ordering.

How should I store fresh mushrooms?

Paper bag or breathable container in the fridge, unwashed, and eat them within 3–4 days. Never a sealed plastic bag — mushrooms need to breathe.

Do you sell spawn, kits, or teach growing?

Not currently — our customer base keeps us busy, and we'd rather put everything into excellence in the fruiting bodies we sell.

What's the Mushroom Guild?

It's coming: a portal to the forest side of what we do — hunting maps and datasets, foray tours, and a place for fellow pickers. Join the notify list and you'll hear the moment the doors open.

How do I pay?

Cards at checkout, processed by Stripe — Apple Pay, Google Pay, or standard credit card. COD available for pickup.
